Ohio University – Hwa Wei Lee Library Annex Roof

CTL Engineering, Inc. conducted a nuclear survey on the Hwa Wei Lee Library Annex roof areas, which totaled approximately 21,524 square feet. A total of six (6) roof core cuts were completed and the overall roof composition noted for each roof core on this ballasted Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) roof system. CTL found that roof sections were experiencing fatigue and a compromised watertight integrity.  Leak areas were observed primarily at gutter edges.

CTL provided project bid documents for the roof replacement, which incorporated new gutters, down spouts, metal flashings, copper overflows, and downspout tie-ins to an underground drainage line.

CTL determined that approximately 75% to 80% of the current EPS and ISO insulation boards could be salvaged and reused in a roof replacement if carefully removed and stored during the demolition of the current roof system.  This presented a substantial cost savings to the Ohio University.
