CTL ENGINEERING ACQUIRES VECTOR ENGINEERS
CTL Engineering, Inc. (CTL) is proud to announce the acquisition of Vector Engineers, Inc. (Vector). The acquisition diversities CTL’s geographical presence, utilizing Vector’s strong sector expertise in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Southern Indiana. CTL will now offer a full range of services in these geographic areas. With this acquisition, CTL now has 13 branch offices in six states in the U.S. and two in India. Vector adds to CTL’s capabilities with experienced staff to offer more services to more clients.
WELCOME
CTL welcomes Wayne Karem, Ph.D., P.E., PG, D.GE, Vector’s President, and the entire staff to the CTL family. “We will continue to grow and diversify both our service offerings and geography with a focus on servicing our clients wherever they need us. Our mission is Client, Teamwork, and Leadership in Technology. The similarity of culture between the two organizations with a focus on meeting the needs of our clients will make the merger of the two companies easy”, said CK Satyapriya, P.E., D.GE, CTL’s President & CEO.
MEET THE vECTOR TeaM
Vector was started in 2000 specializing in civil engineering and land surveying, and in 2010 turned their focus to geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing. Today this includes subsurface site characterizations, site development consulting, forensic engineering and expert witness, construction materials testing consisting of special inspections on soil, concrete, steel and fireproofing, and drilling soil test borings, rock coring, installation of inclinometers, and water observation wells.
Wayne A. Karem, Ph.D., P.E., D. GE
Wayne has a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Louisville and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Karem has over 35 years of geotechnical experience starting his career at Law Engineering. He started QORE Property Sciences (formally Atlanta Testing and Engineering) in Kentucky in the mid-1990s in Louisville and Lexington and was on the QORE board of directors, being elected executive VP for QORE for two years before he left in 2007 to work at Vector Engineers full time. Dr. Karem taught part-time at the University of Kentucky from 2004 through 2015. He currently serves on the Western Kentucky University Civil Engineering advisory board. He has published several papers and is a Diplomat of Geotechnical Engineering per the ASCE.
W. Robert Folsom, MSCE, P.E.
Rob has a B.S. and M.S. from Brigham Young University and started his career in the rocket motor industry (he is a rocket scientist). He transitioned to geotechnical engineering in the early 1990s with Law Engineering, at the time one of the premier geotechnical firms in the southeastern United States. Rob has been with Vector Engineers for over 11 years serving as the Chief Engineer and overseeing the Owensboro office. Rob has a total of 33 years of experience and is an expert in seismic site and building class determination and liquefaction analysis. Rob has served on the KY Geotechnical Engineering Group board for many years. He is a licensed P.E. in Kentucky and is pending license in Ohio and Indiana.
Paul West, P.E., LSIT
Paul has a B.S.C.E from the University of Kentucky working most of his career in the highway design and civil works field. He joined Vector in 2017 as the Owensboro, KY manager and principal engineer. Paul’s experience ranges from highways, railroads, commercial and industrial developments and construction inspection. He has been active in the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers serving as president.
Mathew Slusser, MSCE, P.E.
Matt has a B.S. and Masters from the Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville. He has been with Vector for 4 years. Matt is the lead engineer in our geotechnical group and also manages several materials testing projects and is a micro-pile expert. Matt worked in the telecommunications industry prior to joining Vector and is licensed in Kentucky.
John D. Conway, P.E.
John graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S.C.E. John has been with Vector for 5 years, working on several large field testing projects before becoming the CMT department leader and a project manager. John is a well-rounded engineer working on geotechnical site characterizations and managing the majority of the company testing projects. He is licensed in Kentucky and is pending license in Indiana.
Seth Barnett, Geologist
Seth has a B.A. in Geology from the Western Kentucky University and has been with Vector for over 11 years. He is the “weird” projects manager and is the drilling department manager.
L. Wayne Cassady, P.E.
Wayne retired from the Louisville Riverport Authority and works with Vector on a part-time basis focusing his experience on managing projects and business development. Wayne has a B.S.C.E. from the University of Kentucky and had previously worked with Law Engineering as a materials engineer in the 1980s. Wayne is licensed in Kentucky.

CTL’s goal is to provide expertise, knowledge and trusted solutions and to establish a presence in Kentucky. This is an exciting opportunity for CTL to have branch offices in six states serving more clients.
