CTL Engineering was hired by Arrow Concrete Company to provide concrete maturity testing for the 4th and Elm Street Parking Garage in Columbus, Ohio. CTL Engineering and Arrow Concrete used the maturity testing method as an indicator of concrete strength gain. Concrete structures reinforced with post-tension cables must have enough strength before stress is applied. Maturity testing methods reinforce the construction schedule by closely monitoring strength gain.

A large quantity of strength samples were fabricated at the Construction Materials Laboratory in Columbus, Ohio. From those samples, maturity curves were developed for the concrete mixtures that were used on this project. The structure was instrumented during construction and monitored until the concrete was ready for the stressing to proceed. This is another example of how CTL Engineering can provide value-added services to a project.
