Who Got Awarded? Those Who Make Way for Safety!
Dear Employee Owners,
As you all are aware, the Safety Committee has implemented a program of rewarding employees alert the company of any near misses or unsafe practices of fellow employees and to employees that suggest a solution to prevent these incidents from happening again. Accordingly, the participation of fellow employees in reporting near misses or unsafe practices and/or in suggesting solutions has been very encouraging and a good work in progress. The lesson that has been drawn from this exercise and corresponding participation is believed to gear and/or focus our safety awareness program towards those which matter most, CTL’s employees and CTL’s Clients. In the last two quarters four fellow employees were individual winners of the safety program and their contribution will make us all at CTL winners too. The following are the winner employee/owners:
- Jennifer Selfridge : Awarded a $75.00 visa debit card for a best safety solution/suggestion during the April-June Quarter,
- Brian Frye : Awarded a $50.00 visa debit card for a best near miss entry during the April-June Quarter,
- David Wooten : Awarded a $75.00 visa debit card for a best safety solution/suggestion during the July - September Quarter, and
- John Grogan : Awarded a $50.00 visa debit card for a best near miss entry during the July - September Quarter.
On behalf of all employee/owners, the Safety Committee congratulates the above winners and extends its heart-felt thanks to all of you, who in one way or another contribute to a safe working environment or the safety awareness program.
From this exercise and contributed ideas, one can conclude that our individual safety or our work place safety depends upon three basic elements: brain power, action, and teamwork. Here’s how:
- Use your brain to keep your body safe. Think about what you’re doing while you work. Also think about ways to make the work safer.
- Act immediately when you see a safety problem. Remove or correct the hazard, if you can; or report it, if you can’t. Don’t just walk away.
- Be a team player to ensure everyone’s safety. You can have a perfect safety record, but if the guy working next to you takes risks, you could be involved in the accident he/she causes. Look out for co-workers and they will look out for you.
Therefore, if we can keep these in mind and continue to participate, we all can be winners and make CTL a winner too!
Thank you all,
Amogne Gelaye
